Compile (Purple Edition)

Not giving 10 stars because its my GOAT, but because it's a feat and a gift to put so much good game into this little thing. For $20-odd dollars you get a little MTG, a little Netrunner— you touch that place without the sweat, the cost, the bloat. Accessible and beautiful, strategic and exciting. You feel clever when you get everything in lockstep. The shifting, flipping, returning, deleting— the customization and modularity— just primo. Also, what I often dislike about small box games is their lack of replayability; Compile has a high number of deck permutations and lots of room for exploration. A good access point to head-to-head games!

Played a friends copy. Excellent, the best lane battler there is. Edit: I now own it and play it even more. With the release of Main 2 and Aux 2, as well as getting my hands on Aux 1. This really shines.

It always amazes me how much creativity exists in us in order to create a game as simple as Compile while being so strategically deep. Cheap, easy to learn, and extremely rewarding to invest time in it. Just a few games made me fell in love with it as it is similar in gameplay with Magic or Android netrunner. Simply incredible. Looking forward for the expansion!

The best game I own. My wife loves playing it too and we've had a hard time getting other games off the shelf since we got this. It's a game where you can get entranced with your options while avoiding analysis paralysis. You also can truly admire good plays by your opponent, and it's hard to steamroll a lesser player or feel like you're truly in a hole you can't recover from until you're at the end of the game. It's also pretty quick, easy to setup, and doesn't feel too repetitive with the diversity of decks and combinations. Super excited for the expansions!

Probably the best two-player dueling game. So many fun combos and possibilities. So much to think about, but the ruleset is quite simple. So many fun three set combinations for deck-building. Every combination feels interesting for different reasons. I will always love playing this!
