Description

We are in the 16th century. Charles V has been proclaimed king of his Spanish possessions and emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. The revolt of the comuneros in Castilla has been put down and now the king is in a good moment to carry out his expansionist aspirations. The forge of a empire is beginning.

The New World has just been discovered and missions of exploration and conquest are sent there. Colonies and settlements are built, new sorts of unknown spices are brought to the Old World and lots of gold and silver are stolen to natives of that far land. It's a thriving age for valients.

Meanwhile bloody wars are waged in the rest of Europe and tons of the New World gold is spent to hold the force of the empire in front of the rest of the european nations and heretics. Catholic Church confronts under the Emperor's shield the Protestant Reformation in order to hold the Catholic hegemony in the Old Continent.

In Plus Ultra: The Court of the Emperor Charles V each player plays the role of a ambitious noble of Charles V's court. The world is full of opportunities for those brave enough to expand their horizons.

The goal is to collect wealth and reputation for the Empire in order to attract attention of the Emperor and become a Grandee of the Realm. To achieve this the players can use the influence of the different characters which they select in each game round. The cardinal, the constable, the viceroy, the conqueror, the admiral and the king are some of them.

In Plus Ultra there are multiple paths to the victory: you can trade with New World goods, finance the Church, start the conquest of The Americas, fight against other european nations... all of that based in a gameplay of selection of actions through 9 characters. The selection and order of realization of actions gives interesting strategic options for the players.

Nos situamos en pleno siglo XVI. El rey Carlos V ha sido proclamado rey de sus posesiones hispánicas y emperador del Sacro Imperio Germánico. Las rebeliones de los comuneros en Castilla han sido sofocadas y ahora el rey se encuentra en un momento de tranquilidad pasajera para poder llevar a cabo sus ambiciones expansionistas. Comienza la forja de un imperio.
América, el nuevo continente, acaba de ser descubierto y son enviadas contínuas misiones de exploración y conquista. Se construyen colonias y asentamientos, se traen nuevas especias al Viejo Mundo así como grandes cantidades de oro y plata que son expoliadas a los nativos de aquellas lejanas tierras. Es una era próspera para los osados.

Mientras, en el resto de Europa, se libran encarnizadas guerras y una gran parte de ese oro proveniente del Nuevo Mundo se gasta en mantener la pujanza del Imperio frente al resto de naciones europeas y herejes. La Iglesia Católica se enfrenta a la Reforma Protestante amparada por el furioso escudo del Emperador, que lucha por mantener la hegemonía del catolicismo en el Viejo Continente.

En Plus Ultra “La corte del emperador Carlos V” cada jugador representa un noble menor pero ambicioso de la corte de Carlos V. El mundo se llena de oportunidades para aquellos suficientemente valientes como para ampliar sus horizontes. El objetivo es conseguir amasar fortuna y reputación por el Imperio para llamar la atención del Emperador y ser nombrado Grande del Reino. Para ello podrán valerse de la influencia de diferentes tipos de personajes que podremos seleccionar en cada ronda del juego. El cardenal, el condestable, el virrey, el conquistador, el almirante e incluso el mismísimo rey son sólo algunos de ellos.
En Plus Ultra hay múltiples caminos para la victoria: Puedes comerciar con las mercancías del Nuevo Mundo, financiar la Fe, emprender la conquista de Las Américas, luchar al frente de las Guerras contra otros estados europeos… todo esto basado en una mecánica de selección de acciones por medio de 9 personajes diferentes que nos podremos encontrar en el juego. La selección y orden de realización de acciones suponen interesantes opciones estratégicas para los jugadores.
