It's a Wonderful World

Got the base game and loved it so much I bought all extensions. I usually play the base game with the Corruption and Ascension extension and I will never get tired of it. The rules are simple and can be explained thoroughly in about 15 minutes. Yet the game (if not played casually) is very demanding in terms of macro- and micro-planning. The draft part reduces the impact of chance in the relatively to opponents, especially when playing in duel; and it makes information quasi symmetrical. The only interaction you'll have with opponents are indirect (through draft/counter draft and race for hegemony) so it's just the most perfect engine game I've played so far.

I only played one game, but I only got the hang of it in the last round, haha... it seems like an excellent engine-building game, fast-paced, and the game time doesn't increase with the number of players. Simple and straightforward, but full of strategic layers and difficult choices. In terms of interaction, it might be better with 2 players, for more intense marking.

It’s a Wonderful World is the game that replaced 7 Wonders on my shelf. It’s a lean, punchy engine-builder that thrives on tight drafting decisions and the joy of watching your production snowball from “barely scraping by” to “cube tycoon.” What really keeps me coming back is how well it rewards planning. Every card you draft is a mini decision tree: build it, recycle it, or regret it. And with just four rounds, there's no room for waste. Franchement mon coup de cœur du Festival de Cannes! J’aurais bien enchaîné plusieurs parties et c’est le seul jeu cette année qui m’a fait cet effet. J’attendais beaucoup de ce jeu, et toutes mes attentes ont été comblées.
