Terra Nova

I didn't rate my own game for months. But the most recent rating of 1 isn't justified because it is based on incorrect assumptions.

10/10 because it is Gaia Project/Terra Mystica/Age of Innovation but playable at about 15-20 minutes per player plus 5-10 minutes to setup/clean up. It is not as complex as the others, but this means that it is much more accessible. I enjoy playing this game with my children on a weeknight.

I like this quite a bit, they removed most of the boring stuff and kept just the meat of Terra Mystica: when to eco out and when to vp out. It is a good package, just might use one micro expansion with more content (1-2 end of the round tile, 1-2 scoring tile, maybe a new city type tile) The more I play it the more I like it and I still don't have the urge to play heavier versions of this system I now played more than a HUNDRED games and still my only wish is small micro expansion that I will probably make myself, incredible game 1.6k games in and at this point it's hard for me to see anything topping it off. I even made a small mini expansion myself.

An underrated game - overshadowed by Terra Mystica - which is easily one of the best games under 3.0 weight. Perfect for its purpose. Lots of strategy and optimization for a medium-light game. It's pretty obvious that Terra Mystica is much better, the issue is playtime... Terra Nova takes half the time to play as Terra Mystica, and that's the big difference. You can play it every day, a filler on steroids.

Terra Mystica is one of my favourite games. But as a busy parent I dont play that long games nowadays, so Terra Nova is a very enjoyable game in the Terra Mystica universe which is quicker to play and teach to new players. So for me Terra Nova is a perfect game to own and play.
