Varmints are all around us, and I can't get enough of their antics. My name is David, founder of Grubfellow Games, and this game is a way for me to show my love for dumpster-diving critters.   From a design perspective, my priority since day one has been to create a game that is simple and fun with nothing but numbers, and that goal has led us here. Varmints! is intended to be played with all of the card effects, but even the simple "numbers-only" gameplay mode is delightful and suitable for kids as young as 10 (or younger!). Games without effects can take as little as 10-15 minutes, or you can add in all of the tricks play for 30 minutes or more. The intuitive scalability of gameplay options and time commitments ensures that everybody can find a way to enjoy Varmints! in a way that works for them. Varmints! was delightful to develop in its early playtest stages, but the project really came together when I found the perfect artist and creative partner, JelArts (Jessica Lowry). Jessica's incredible, adorable, lovable artwork is what makes Varmints! the best that it can be. Join me in fawning over her 30+ original illustrations of Birds, Dogs, Foxes, Opossums, Raccoons, Rats, Squirrels, and Skunks. Between the cards, the box, stickers, buttons, tote bags, and prints, there are tons of different ways for everybody to enjoy and cherish this unique and whimsical artwork! In addition to producing a game that's as fun to play as it is to look at, we at Grubfellow Games care deeply about giving back to our community and helping out our human and non-human neighbors alike. In lieu of more typical stretch goals and bonuses, our stretch goals include game donations to schools and libraries, as well as cash donations to Urban Wildlife Rehabilitation here in Massachusetts, USA. If you want to make a more direct contribution to spread the love, you can also add a "Donation Game" to your pledge. Donation Games will be given away to anyone who wants one, free of charge, no questions asked.
