Descriptif
The initial quakes were only minor tremors, but as the land began to unravel, so did our sense of security. We watched the cliffs of Hytazch fall into the sea. Mighty trees of old, swallowed up by the caverns below. As the waters rose, a great roar was heard across the plains. This was no cry of disbelief or heartache, but of jubilance. Songs began to fill the air as our once peaceful hosts, now readied themselves for war. Suddenly on the horizon, what appeared as huge bolts of energy shoot out into the depths of space, before disappearing again. Despite the inevitable shock wave heading our way, the clans continued to cheer as they made haste towards the origin of the blaze. What could cause such elation? Why abandon caution in favour of chaos? Had we missed something - some crucial misunderstanding of this planet and its inhabitants? Upon reaching the site, we were immediately plunged into combat. Across the landscape lay six massive structures, towering over the forces fighting below. They seemed to pulse and flicker with a golden haze. Could these be the ancient relics the Oxataya spoke of? There is so much we still do not understand, but we cannot concede to indecision. Will we stay and fight, or retreat back to Moontide? In Circadians: Chaos Order, players take on the role of 1 of 6 asymmetric factions. Each faction has their own means of winning the game, unique leaders, attribute cards and other abilities.

I've loved every play of this, it's like Dune and Gaia Project had a highly aggressive baby. Lots of interesting choices to be made when building out your tech tracks and economy. The pricing mechanic where each player gets to set the price for one action is really tense and interesting every round. The structure around individual faction goals and the relics on the map means that fighting happens pretty much immediately in this game, no long cold war build up for a bunch of battles in the last round.

A game of almost perfect information, but there's so much that instead, it feels more alive. The asymmetry plays off of such slight differences and yet each faction is very much themselves. Easy to learn, hard to master. Trite saying, but no less true. Definitely rewards and incentivizes repeat plays, as well as inspiring faction swaps to see for yourself what your opponent was facing. All the dials that were spun to set this meal, well done!

Divertimento puro!

unique well executed combination of familiar game mechanics. some dune (territory control, combat wheel + bluffing), some gaia project (building income bonuses), some scythe, some race for the galaxy (action selection), some root ( asymmetric factions with different winning conditions) unique action pricing mechanism. great game. importantly for me, works with 2.

(3-4P) Asymmetric dudes on a map game with resource management, pricing of actions which is a little bit like the follow action system with some similarity to Puerto Rico. The game devolves into an escalating power struggle where all factions leverage their special abilities. The game rests on a knife's edge with very tight win conditions. In some respects this is the perfect game.
