Ticket to Ride Map Collection: Volume 5 – United Kingdom & Pennsylvania

The best map pack bar none. While other map layouts, such as Nordic Countries, may prove more difficult to navigate, the technologies found in the United Kingdom expansion provide the most strategic depth found in any Ticket to Ride map. But this Map Collection packs a one-two punch, because whereas the UK side is very crunchy with a lot of options to weigh as you literally "build your engine", Pennsylvania is an absolute ticket free-for-all and overall point bonanza. (I am also very cautious about 2-player variants, and I found the way the dummy hand was implemented on the Pennsylvania side to be smooth and unobtrusive.) Rating: The Best • 10/10

I've played a game with both sides and can say they're both excellent! Pennsylvania is tight and can lead to a lot of action in the middle which is similar to USA while UK has less of that especially with the right of way technology allowing you to bypass a cutoff. The stocks in Pennsylvania add another layer to decision making and which routes to go for and can easily change the game's outcome. UK is more advanced with technologies and the New York ferry can be unfair at times, but it's a very fun map that really makes good use of locomotives. This pack and the Japan map are my favorites!

We have all of the expansions and this is our favorite, specifically Pennsylvania and it's set collection aspect with the stock cards. United Kingdom map is also very good and brings a unique twist with technology cards. It ups the strategy level because it's not possible to get every technology card. You will have some kind of restriction in the game that you will have to work around.

I love this variation. Both the UK and Pennsylvania are fun. UK has a bunch of technology that you have to buy in order to build and claim routes which adds a unique and fun aspect to the game. Pennsylvania is probably my favorite out of all the collections. I love the claiming shares aspect of the game that gives it that twist. It makes you think about what to claim and go for to add those extra points at the end which puts a good spin on the base game.

The two best maps ever designed for the game, both in the same box! With the most involved mechanics seen in any map pack - stocks in Pennsylvania, technologies in the UK - but yet still easily learnable, these are by far the most robust Ticket to Ride experiences and make the game transcendent.
