1923 Cotton Club

It's an enjoyable drafting/worker placement game. It is set during prohibition. Cards represent famous gangsters, musicians, and influential people from that period. A big part of the game is each player chooses three events to play during the game. This gives each player a bit of inside information. The game is played over six rounds, drafting three cards each round. Acquiring influential people is one of the main ways to get points, but you need prerequisites to acquire them: specific alcohol and forms of entertainment). Once a card is gone, it is not replaced until the next round, so you must choose wisely. This game packs a big punch in a little package.

probado ayer haciendo un test en solitario para aprender bien las mecanicas de juego y parece muy interesante y entretenido...muchas ganas de probarlo con amigos. Muchas opciones de tracks de mejoras y muchas posibilidades de estrategias para ganar. Probado a 3 jugadores y admito que por las tantas possibilidades de distintos caminos surge un poco de AP, y muchas veces no sabes si has hecho bien tu eleccion porque hay muchas carta en la mesa y muchas iconas, pero con muchas ganas de repetir teniendo mas familiaridad con todo lo que hay en mesa.

This was a fantastic find at the SPIEL 2022. Looping games is definitly on my radar now. Like the Tiny Epic series they do great and full games in a really small box.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this game, I like the open drafting with the "bonus/negative" spaces and enjoyed the scaling of it. Also the theme really elevates the game with the real life people showing up. If you are a fan of this theme it's quite a neat little game.

The game 1923 Cotton Club convinces especially with its theme. The real characters and the background knowledge about them, which are printed in the instructions, provide a great atmosphere on the table with the great illustrations. The game has simple rules as a worker-placement game, but great decision-making possibilities and through the event/newspaper cards also great trouble or catch-up mechanics.
