Western Legends - Kickstarter Edition

This has become one of my favorite games to play. I'm not even sure what the appeal is but I think it is just how well it blends so many different styles of gameplay into the sandbox. It's got cards, luck, strategy, and combat and you can really dive into all or none in a way that is satisfying and never delivers the same experience. It also incorporates the them so well in blending history with legend with pop culture versions of all these Western Legends.

Has a simplified recommended setup that is great for learning the fundamentals of the game for first time players. I really like how you can win with different strategies, and change tactics throughout the game. Works great with two players and is probably even more fun with up to six people.

Played with several different player counts and with different versions. I’ve enjoyed all my plays of this although I did find the one game I played using all the expansions a tad overwhelming… but I’m sure I could get used to it. The best games for me have been 3 players using the original kickstarter offering . However I could be easily persuaded to give it a go with any player count playing any version.

10 stars to balance stupid 0-10 rating system. A decent sandbox game, rated it just because played lackluster Ion Core, which is thousand time worse then this. Played it around 3 times, fun times, but with expansion you need 5-6 players, seems like, otherwise map feels too spaceous, and there will be less interaction between players.

I've dreamed about a game like this since I was a child. I can rob trains, banks, people, throw parties, gamble, rustle cattle, wrangle cattle, mine, buy property, arrest bandits, have duels, (using all expansions that is) .. just an incredible amount of variety and the stories that come out of the games are often ones we remember as a game group. I almost don't even care if I win or not the game itself is so captivating .. almost.
