Splendor Duel

After playing Splendor a dozen times, I wasn't sure if I needed this game. But I was surprised at how much more fun I had with this one! I like going back and forth getting one token at a time trying to force the other player to refill the board so I can get a scroll. I also like the bonus actions on the cards, and find the art much prettier. Splendor is good, but Splendor Duel is great!

An awesome duel game that sometimes feels like it's taking a bit longer than it should. I love it, but if you play this with someone who is taking their time, the experience diminishes. Still, the mechanics, the artwork, the big game in a small box, it's all there. Can't wait to play more of this.

Es un juego maravilloso. Toma las mecánicas del Splendor original y las pule de manera que genera una experiencia estratégica tensa con un componente de interacción que resulta muy divertido. En cuanto conoces más las cartas empiezas a vislumbrar la capacidad de re-jugabilidad que brinda la simplicidad de sus mecánicas y la genialidad con la que están implementadas.

In my opinion the best duel game. You have three strategies to win in comparison to Splendor which only counts points, so you have to pay attention to your opponent's strategy a bit more in depth. The idea of being a merchant is really enforced with the schmeckle gem collection (bag and weight) and I really appreciate the size of the game for travel or even just a low energy game night. It's fun. It's fast. It's hard to stop and it's one we keep coming back to again and again.

J'adore ce jeu, nous l'avons loué à la bibliothèque au début de l'année 2026 et en date d'aujourd'hui (15 mars) on n'arrête pas de le renouveler pour y jouer encore et encore. C'est un design sans faille. Très bien balancé pour 2 joueurs. J'y joue avec mon garçon de 4,5 ans comme un jeu semi-coopératif, je l'aide à choisir ses objectifs (quelle carte il devrait essayer d'acheter) puis il va chercher des gemmes en conséquence. Évidemment, c'est encore meilleur entre adultes, avec un peu plus de confrontation dans le choix des cartes et des gemmes!
