Akrotiri versetzt Sie in die Rolle eines Entdeckers in der klassischen griechischen Zeit. Auf der Suche nach geheimnisvollen Tempeln, von denen alte Legenden erzählen, müssen Sie eine Expedition organisieren, um Ihr Ziel zu erreichen. Aber es wird nicht einfach sein, da die Ressourcen nicht viele sind und eine Expedition, die Erkundung und die Ausgrabungen hohe Kosten verursachen. Das Platzieren von Plättchen, das Management der Hand und der Ressourcen sowie eine 'Pick-up and Delivery'-Mechanik sind das Herzstück von Akrotiri; aber das Besondere ist die Geheimhaltung der persönlichen Zielkarten, sodass bis zum Schluss niemand genau weiß, wer der Gewinner ist.
