Castellum: Maastricht

Highly recommended to all fun lovers! Amazing game and baffles me that this game doesn't have a higher rating. Very fun to play, easy to understand, great artwork, the pieces of the game feel like a lot of care went into them and the quality of the materials (wood and cardboard) is very sturdy and worthwhile. Also a lot of fun if you have no interest in the city of Maastricht, your experience will not be different as the town only sets some context, but is in no way important to the gameplay.

easy rules, good interaction and everybody has enjoyed it very much, so far. The general rating is probably not better due to the "home made" design and drawings making this game look less "professional". However, the mechanics and the rules work out very well and I can highly recommend it. :-)

Tested the game at SpellenSpektakel 2017 and committed to a preorder. It is a worker placement game with limited choices. Excellent for a shorter game, easy to introduce to new players. Preodered SpellenSpektakel 2017

With the change in rules, the game is light but yet enough depth to it, to put up a strategy. Because it is only 4 rounds you need to be quick, strategic & a bit of planning ahaed. Maybe there must be a light change to the points scored for the lightest infantry? Don't know yet because it was a quick introductive game. But I liked ... maybe this has also something to do with how the game looks. I really like medieval-look games. Over the 2 days of the fair I noticed that children love to play this game, that's also a plus. Because families can play it then also, for me a big advantage!!
