Beschreibung

Fighting Formations ist eine aufstrebende Spieleserie, die sich auf mehrere Schlachten verschiedener individueller Formationen im Zweiten Weltkrieg konzentriert. Der erste Titel der Serie ist "Grossdeutschland Infantry Division". Zukünftige Titel sind noch nicht festgelegt, könnten aber anderen berühmten Divisionen (Big Red One), Korps (Afrika Korps), Regimentern (442nd RCT), Kommandotruppen, Ranger-Bataillonen usw. gewidmet sein. Der Maßstab des Spiels beträgt 75 Meter pro Hexfeld, wobei die Züge etwa 5 Minuten reale Zeit repräsentieren. Die Einheiten sind Trupps, Geschütze mit ihren eigenen Besatzungen und einzelne Fahrzeuge. Auch Züge werden eingesetzt. Das Spiel hat Karten-Assets - einschließlich solcher Dinge wie Scharfschützen, Artillerie, Luftunterstützung oder Sprengungen - ist aber nicht kartengetrieben. Es ist auch nicht das typische Igo-Yougo-Spiel mit einer strengen Spielreihenfolge. Stattdessen ist die Basis-Engine des Spiels ein Impulsmechanismus, bei dem die verschiedenen Befehle mit einem bestimmten Kosten in Initiative verbunden sind, wobei die Person mit der meisten Initiative zu jedem Zeitpunkt die nächste Aktion auf der Karte ausführen kann. Dieses erste Spiel hat die folgenden Komponenten: 4 Karten von 22" x 34" mit Rückendruck, 5 Zählblätter, 55 Karten, ein 24-seitiges Regelbuch der Serie, ein 48-seitiges Spielbuch, ein 8,5" x 22" Track-Display, mehrere Karton-Spielerhilfen, Würfel: 2d6, 2d8, 2d10, 2d12 & 2d20, 10 Holzwürfel, 1 Holzfigur.
