A Landships! Tactical Weapons Innovations 1914-1918 Expansion Game for 1915-1933. "Infernal Machines is the first expansion kit for Clash of Arms' Landships! game. You must own Landships! to play Infernal machines. Designed by Perry Moore, Infernal Machines retells the story of man versus machines in 20 new scenarios. These range from the technological fantasies of the Great War through the gritty Russian Civil War, to the deserts of Morocco and the high altitude Chaco. With two new double-sided map panels and 280 counters, Infernal machines is fully compatible with Landships! and provides new vehicle and terrain rules to improve the basic game. The infantryman's war is not neglected either. The first mortars, SMGs, body armor, and light machine guns all make their deadly appearance. I'm a big fan of the designer, this series, and this time period. A fascinating expansion to the emminently playable "WWI Squad Leader" game, LANDSHIPS (perhaps my favorite game from Clash, btw). It stopped JUST short of the Spanish Civil War, drat it all. Still, a guy can hope.
8.5/10
Infernal Machines add a lot of spice to the original Landship! rules. The revised combat resolution tables reflect grim and horror of those industrial conflicts. More steel and more blood...
