Solitaire General: Napoleon at Waterloo

This is a solitaire game where you step into the mind of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte on 18 June, 1815 and take on his greatest challenge. Can you defeat the combined armies of Wellington and Blücher near the small town of Waterloo, or will you be defeated and deposed from the throne of France?

Your objective, as Napoleon, is not only to crush Wellington's hodgepodge Allied forces, but you must also retain enough of your army – especially the Guard – for the battles to come. For if Napoleon won at Waterloo, he would still have to face large Russian and Austrian armies.

Key to the game is the revealing of the Allied forces. When Napoleon arranged his forces at Waterloo most of the Allied forces were hidden behind tall crops, hedges, ridges and other terrain features. So it will be with you - as you make contact with the enemy, their forces will start to be revealed. Perhaps your attack will hit weak troops, or maybe you'll end up facing the British Guard and their fearsome heavy cavalry! Every game will be different and your decisions will determine victory or defeat. The Allies do not just sit back either: They will reinforce, launch cavalry charges and/or infantry attacks and of course the Prussians are on their way…

Features
Napoleon at Waterloo is an area movement game of the Battle of Waterloo. Units are generally brigades, and there are over 100 of them as the game includes not just the forces that actually fought at Waterloo but also:

The entire French Armée du Nord.
The entire Prussian I, II and IV Corps.
The Allied forces (Dutch and British Divisions) in reserve at Hal.


A great many options and scenarios are included for variety, such as:

Uncertain Prussian arrival.
An early start.
Reaction of the Allied forces at Hal.
Blocking the Prussians in the forests.
Grouchy.
Different difficulty settings.

Bombardment Phase.
Roll Command Dice Phase.
Expend Command Dice Phase.
Enemy Reaction Phase.
Check for Victory/Defeat Phase.
