Band of Brothers: Ghost Panzer

Excellent game that is even better than Screaming Eagles. Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in World War II combat. With retrospect this game has aged really well. The scenarios in this module are excellent. I have heard some say this game is formulaic and boring. That is definitely not the case with many of these scenarios.

Playing my way through in order. Major improvement with the new Proficiency rules for inf., and tweeks to heavy weapons casualty/suppression numbers. The 'command range'/proficiency combination for tanks/AFVs finally shows how just the tech. stats do not tell the whole story of combat effectiveness. GREAT INSIGHT!____GREAT GAME!

The only squad level game you need. Properly rewards correct tactics with only 6.5 pages of easily-digestible rules. All game-y nonsense has been purged from this system with the ruthlessness of an NKVD anti-retreat detachment. Very elegant, it’s the quintessential “easy to learn, difficult to master” wargame.

Have played the first training scenario twice on Vassal now. Takes some getting used to the new modifiers, but I am liking it. I wish the Russians could shoot... anything at all! It feels a little smoother with the new modifiers. I need to get the physical copy and play more of the armor scenarios before I can rate this. Okay, the mixed infantry/vehicle scenarios on the big boards are just great. Wow.

This tactical game forces you to act like a real squad leader, spreading your forces out, suppressing the enemy before advancing on them, etc. Not having to refer to a 100 page rules manual keeps this game simple and FUN. Yet, tactical decisions have to be made to ensure victory. The game will probably just click with you, or it won't and you'll move on. But if it does click, you'll enjoy it immensely!
