RAF: The Battle of Britain 1940

Might just be my favorite solitaire game. The solo bot play feels surprisingly strategic, and always presents a challenge. The game also greatly rewards intelligent use of resources and tactics, rather than just being luck-based. I wish the components were just a little nicer, but I love the game nonetheless.

Great solitaire game, which really does have the RAF player wondering at almost every turn what more can come his way. I note some in the forum have said that the full campaign is a 'bit vanilla", and it's true that the players have to repeat similar actions each turn. However as a simulation of the real event, it is this point that makes one aware of the length and breadth of the actual Battle of Britain. Not from an individual pilot's standpoint, but from the leaders trying to prevent the destruction of the RAF, and the inevitable invasion that would have followed. It offers many decisions and is easy to play with Stuka Joe's cards (they also hold your place if you have another life to attend to). The pieces look nice but are too thin (tweezers help); and I'll be playing it often. I'm looking forward to playing the other side.

Fantastic Solitaire game that I have taken to the table many times. Numerous relevant decisions and great replayvalue. Usually follow this operationel game with a single squadron in the equally fantastic Skies over Britain.

Wow! This is the premier game of the Battle of Britain. The intensity and power of both countries adds a level of tension I haven't had in a game. The game has you shaking your head wishing you could do more. Just accepting there will be loses.
