Canvas Finishing Touches Deluxe Edition

See the non-deluxe Finishing Touches for my review of the base expansion. In the deluxe components, the new painter cards are the biggest change, adding asymmetry to the gameplay. So now, you may have an important one-time ability or a perk that lets you cheat the normal rules a little bit. Both of these can be extremely impactful for winning - almost to the point that I'm not fully convinced the painters are well balanced. The other additions like extra art cards and signature styles are nice, but not necessary to have. I think out of all the deluxe versions, Finishing Touches is the only one that you MUST get the deluxe edition for, because of the painter cards.

Kickstarted. Adds more scoring stuff and a few other odds and ends that feel like a side step rather than an extra step if that makes sense.

The painter expansion is probably the add-on I like the most from all of Canvas.

Finishing touches adds 4 frames with scoring goals relating to the 4 elements. When you make a painting, you can place it in a frame (or replace the current painting in a frame) if your painting has the most of that element. Each time you put a painting in a frame, you get ribbon worth points. Also included is an optional painter module. Each player receives a painter with an asymmetric player power for use during the game. I will probably always want to play with this module. This expansion doesn’t add anything overwhelming to understand and is fun and easy to add into the game.
