Description Description
A new castle is being built for the king, and lots of workers are coming from far away to make their contribution. Each player is a master builder, who will have to make a tactical choice from a number of character cards each turn. But watch out, the character cards also cause interaction, making for a surprising and varied game. Only when the points are counted at the end of the game, the victor will be known! Artwork from Michael Menzel.

Rating based on a quick look at Essen but it looks very clever. Edit: played through, very good! Eggert 35 Eur

Michael Menzel's artwork caught my eye, but the game was good too. Love the double-sided board with the summer/winter choice. Lots of wooden components. Looks like worker placement, but is actually more role-selection. The most aesthetically pleasing game in my collection.

you only have 12 or 15 actions each game, but every single one of them is important and interesting. I can’t think of another game off the top of my head where even the gain resource actions are a tough choice (beyond “what resource do I need most” anyway).

Okay much better than when I first got this. This also was my first designer boardgame I bought. Has so many good things it's only now I really appreciate it's complexities. High trade value only for Wishlist(1) games, and maybe not even that (nostalgia). It seems nostalgia is not all is cracked up to be, specifically when you can't get it to the table Because of all the cult of the new players got play with... Sigh.

role selection like Cuba with a couple of Stone Age* ideas: the resources have numerical values that will add up to buy point tiles (*like the huts) and the areas on the board become various ways to score endgame VP (*like the cards)...it plays lightning fast, so you have to make every action count and there's some synergy with giving each other points and try to guess what other players are going to do so you can play off of their action...cool game
