Description
Play as an ancient civilization as they prosper and collapse through time. Build gigantic monuments, raise impenetrable fortifications, and amass vast knowledge as the ages pass. The greatest civilizations will leave their mark long after their collapse. From times long forgotten to times recently lost, civilizations will rise and fall as the tide of time carries them.
Tides of Time is a drafting game for two players. Each game consists of three rounds in which players draft cards from their hands to build their kingdom. Each card is one of five suits and also has a scoring objective. After all cards have been drafted for the round, players total their points based on the suits of cards they collected and the scoring objectives on each card, then they record their score. Each round, the players each select one card to leave in their kingdom as a "relic of the past" to help them in later rounds. After three rounds, the player with the the most prosperous kingdom wins.

Really fun take on 2-player drafting. The artwork and presentation are fantastic, the rules are super simple to teach, and there seems to be a good mix of strategy and tactics for such a simple and quick game. I'm not sure yet what a good strategy is, but I enjoyed the tough decisions!

Surprising how this game brings depth and strategy in 18 cards! When drafting, you need to take into account the symbols you have, the ones you target, what you don't want to leave to your opponent, and you need to remember what is in each hand so you know what to expect back. Three rounds, and the end of the two firsts allows you to influence the next ones by keeping and removing cards. Absolutely great game.

This is in my top five micro games, and the design is brilliant. The large illustrated cards are great, and the iconography is clear and understandable. You're drafting for set collection and goal cards, all while locking one card and discarding one from play in two of the three rounds.

See my comments on Tides of Madness! This is very similar but without the madness element. Weirdly, that makes a bit trickier to play, since there’s a lot more ‘safe’ options in this one. I ranked it slightly lower since we play it less frequently, but that’s mainly due to my partner’s fondness for Lovecraft. The play is similar enough that you can choose based on theme! Or if you tend to me analysis paralysis prone, we find this one causes more AP than Madness.
