Citadels Duel

Fantastic drafting mechanism after which you know quite a bit (but not all) and can make some clever inferences. Then, some usually interesting decisions for most of the cards. Cards 5 and 9 are obvious, and I think they could have given 5 more choice, but it's fine. The only flaw I've found so far: Capitol is way too cheap at 2g for 2 seats. And I'm a little concerned about how important council majority is. Feels like too obvious of a goal, but I'm not sure about that yet.

I had a better time with this than I expected. It improves on the Citadels formula and adds some interesting tension with the character draft. I do wish the highs were a bit higher, but as it is, it is a solid 2 player game that stands out in the crowd. I also would not mind a bit more variability in the characters - perhaps a second set and you pick one of each number each game -- something to add a bit more variety, as the game can feel a bit more rote after several plays. Regardless, I still enjoy it and it is a good time for two in about 20 minutes.

Im all-in on this. Love Citadels. A duel version is great. PLayed it on BGA and its even greater than great, i just loved the few games i got in :)

Citadels was one of my early favorites. This distills that into a very good two player game. I'm surprised how well it works really, but the shared grid of buildings really is what does it and the council seats. I'd be happy to play this more.
