Defiance: 2nd Russian-Ukrainian War 2022-? – Volume 1: Miracle on the Dnipro covers the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, with the Kiev and Chernihiv campaigns from February 24 to April 1, 2022. The game system is based on Mark Herman's Flashpoint Golan, integrated with the political-strategic component of Triumph of Chaos by David Dockter and updated for modern multi-domain warfare.
Players purchase formations with logistic points, draw tokens from a chaos cup and activate formations to move and fight while seeking to avoid enemy detection. Headquarters provide operational points, recall resources (aircraft, missiles, drones, helicopters) and special capabilities. Includes several two-player scenarios, an AI bot for Russia for solo play in the Ukrainian role, and a full campaign.
