One of the best area control games, solid, no fat, great theme, easy to learn rules, much depth,,, 30 years later, long reign the king.

To that end, you draft caballeros (knights) into your court and subsequently move them onto the board to help seize control of provinces. After every third turn, the regions are scored, and after the ninth turn, the Grande with the most points is deemed the winner.

The new artwork is not pretty and does not fit the setting - if possible, get an older version of this excellent game!
I absolutely adore this game, especially with friends at 4/5 players. It is easy to teach, yet offers immense depths due to the highly interdependent gameplay. Due to natural balancing mechanisms built into the design, it always keeps an intense fight till the very end. It will also lead to quite some politics around the table, with players trying to influence others decisions in their own favor. To me, this will be an eternal 10/10. Very much prefer the newer version though, as it offers far better readability.
Amazing game. Loved every single play, such an amazing experience. The gameplay has a lot of tension, striving, manipulating, it hits every time and delivers a great experience with your friends. The rules are clear, but not necessarily clear to all players which can create some misplays. Love the grande and tower.
I've only played once so far, but this was a big success with my group. Fantastic ratio of strategic depth to rule complexity and lots of good player interaction. I have the 2023 Hans im Glück edition and I find the components and art really impressive. The colors look beautiful and everything is elegant. My friends picked up the game very quickly and were having fun right away.
CAUTION! Not suitable for children under 3 years of age. It contains small parts which could be swallowed or inhaled.
