The present volume presents two adventures in the Moravian duchy of Zilenvoda for medium-level characters (8-15): Votgaj, a small village in the heart of Moravia on the Green Arm, far from the influence of the Grand Duke and urban customs. Through the dense crowns of the beech forests, barely a ray of light penetrates the damp ground. Only in some places near the village have the trees been felled. There, the farmers struggle with nature on small fields to obtain their food. It is late summer, harvest time! The golden sunshine makes the pumpkins, cucumbers, and wheat shine in all their ripe splendor. It has been a good year so far, without raids by plunderers and attacks by enemy creatures from the mysterious woods. Even trade along the nearby road is flourishing. Nothing stands in the way of harvesting the hard work in the fields. Yet the idyll is deceptive. A barely perceptible smell of decay creeps into sensitive noses. Suddenly, a loud pounding in a rhythmic beat resounds far and wide, shattering the silence of the forest... The second adventure takes place in winter in the same region: The frost creaks in the branches, frost covers the roofs of the small Moravian village. Children play joyfully and screaming in frozen beech leaf piles. From a small hut a bit off, a pungent white smoke drifts, the last batch of Sliwowitz (plum brandy) has been distilled. The harvest has also been brought in and after the turbulent events of autumn, peace and normality return to the village community of Votgaj. Winter can therefore come. But the ice is cruel. The white morning reveals a terrible and loud pounding - interspersed with pitiful moans. Will the adventurers be able to defy the icy winter and stop the evil threat looming over Zilenvoda?
