I don't love area control games, but the area control in this is multilayered, and not fighting over points.

Different setup will lead to different games. Very high interaction between players. You are feeling tired after the game, but not thinking about "how does that thing/part work" but rather what should be my gameplan - you only have 18 turns for entire game. Also playtime is nice (you can assume 30 min/player in case of experienced players).
The solo mode is complex with many rules but simulates a real person very well. Great solo game
A great game, love it. I've got Seti too but, in my opinion, Shackleton Base is better. This game relies much less on randomness than Seti that depends on cards random draw. Maybe token could be better in fact online found a lot token upgrades.
A very complex, yet logical and easy to learn game in which all the mechanics work seamlessly.
