The Darkness at the Brink of Ohio Journaling Game (GDR)

The Darkness at the Brink of Ohio is a solo horror journaling game with a soundtrack. It's about a local radio show in the surrounding area of Akron, Ohio that was heard across the state before it happened. You are playing one of the listeners who was working the late night shift. You are documenting your work in a journal while hearing DJ Mike undergo his transformation into something beyond this realm. This game uses a soundtrack for you to listen to while you journal and answer prompts. The major themes of this game are parasocial relationships and hypervisibility within a small fanbase. The content warnings for this game include: Natural horror, Body horror, Psychological horror, Parasocial relationships, Listening to someone’s boundaries being pushed via sexual harassment and other forms of harassment, Listening to someone transform into something other than human, Squelching sounds that are reminiscent of bugs. The game comes in a 110 page book, with the cover illustrated by Michael Croteau. The player has the option of three different characters to play as. Throughout the game, you will be listening to the soundtrack and answering the questions presented to you in the book as your character when the songs play.
