How can you rate this game a 3 or 4? It's a gem of a unknown developer. A true master piece with open and closed bidding mechanisms, action selection and area control. The way the six industrial sectors have influence on costs of industries and end game scoring is phenomenal. Buying each others shares is great and end game scoring has a nice twist. Not to mention the outstanding casino coins (deluxe edition) and the huge amount of player interaction. Just backed it on KS.

Tycoon: India 1981
Tycoon: India 1981 puts you in charge of major industrial houses competing to dominate India's economy. Control six key sectors — minerals, fuel, agriculture, energy, transport, and finance — obtain government rights, build factories across the Indian map, and influence national policies. A strategic resource management game for 1-4 players lasting about 60 minutes.
- 165 cards (57.0mmx89.0mm)
- 60 cards (36.0mmx61.0mm)
After independence from colonial rule, India lay in ruins. Bureaucrats, politicians, and industrialists launched a new industrial revolution following five-year plans. In Tycoon: India 1981, players represent major industrial houses seeking to dominate six key sectors — minerals, fuel, agriculture, energy, transport, and finance — obtaining rights from the government and building factories across the Indian map.
The goal is to grow wealthy, but you must influence national policies, secure political votes for tiebreakers, and balance wealth and fame across a series of rounds that will determine the winner.
The Definitive Edition includes the complete base game, all Kickstarter content, solo mode and campaign, sector dice, and unlockable content, with rule corrections and component improvements over the first printing.

This game is my favorite 2025 game so far. I haven't been so excited to play a new release since Hegemony. Brilliant implementation of mechanics. Smooth game play, and it has great tension all the way through the end. More people should know about this game.
This game was incredible. It replaced Brass Birmingham as my #2 overall favorite game (Keyforge being #1). The concept of having to do well in three different measurable areas (asset value, influence, and favor) rather than just straight victory points was a real unique draw. Add in a well-designed board and game play, easy-to-read-and-follow instructions, and nice game pieces, and it made for an incredible experience. This truly is an undiscovered gem.
Loved the game, not sure why most people dont play much, takes a little time to setup and dismantle but had a blast playing the game
