Description Description
The epigram is a short poetic composition that is exhausted in a few pungent verses, mostly ironic or satirical, with which the reader is induced to laughter but also to reflection. This is precisely the expressive form chosen by Moreno Burattini, one of the most famous Italian cartoonists, to continue to give vent to his caustic, ironic and poetic vein at the same time, expressed through dazzling texts in their brevity: after three collections of aphorisms, here is one of epigrams. The themes addressed are modern and contemporary, but ultimately the source of inspiration is always that of Callimachus and Martial: the human condition observed in its unfolding in everyday life. If the quality of the verses does not claim to compete with the classical Greek and Latin ones, a comparison with popular and illiterate extemporaneous poets (of any era) can be made. After all, Burattini's rhymes are born precisely as extemporaneous, to give life to a challenge made with himself: to publish an epigram on Twitter every day for a year.
