The Battle of Wyse Fork also know as 2nd Battle of Kinston is the battle to defend Kinston, NC and the rail road from falling into Union hands. The battle took place over several days March 8-10.
The battle also had the Confederate gunboat ironclad the CSS Neuse giving fire support and then it was scuttled by the crew so as not to be captured. The battle needed in a Union victory.
