Description

You are a member of the Résistance, a small group of freedom fighters trying to end the Nazi occupation of France during World War II. The German-controlled government has set up a paramilitary force called la Milice (the Militia) to monitor the population and combat the Résistance. If the resistance fighters are successful, the government will not hesitate to bring in the German military to eradicate the dissenters. You have 15 days to complete 2 missions before the occupying forces discover you. If successful, the Résistance wins. However, if the morale in the city drops to zero or all 15 days pass, the occupying forces have crushed the Résistance. Fight against the Nazi occupation of France in a small war to shake off the yoke of oppression and free your homeland. MAQUIS is a worker placement game for 1 player with a playing time of about 20 minutes. You place your resistance fighters in locations around the city to achieve your goals - blowing up trains, publishing underground newspapers, sabotaging the enemy, and more - but collaborators of the Milice and Wehrmacht soldiers patrol the area at the same time. Resistance fighters who do not return to their hideout by the end of the day are arrested and never seen again. The game's difficulty can be freely controlled by selecting the two missions to be completed - from easy to nearly impossible. The 18 mission cards and the resulting mission pairs provide high replay value.
