It is the most used deck in the world. The deck originates from 1909 and is also known as the Waite Smith deck or Rider Waite deck (names that are subject to trademark).
The deck became so famous because it was the first to have the Minor Arcana illustrated with scenes that express their meaning.
It is therefore particularly suitable for Intuitive Reading (without the need for many books and studies), which is why it is recommended for beginners.
Compared to the Marseille Tarot, the numbering of Justice (which appears as XI here) and Strength (which appears as VIII here) is reversed.
• Authors: Arthur Edward Waite, Pamela Colman Smith
• 78 cards: 66×120 mm.
• Multilingual edition
