The Battle of Belleau Wood is one of the most famous engagements in the long and storied history of the United States Marine Corps. Weeks of brutal combat earned them the grudging respect of the vanquished Germans, who called them Teufelhunde - Devil Dogs. IN THE TRENCHES (ITT) system makes its Tiny Battle debut with three scenarios drawn from this exciting battle. Designed by John Gorkowski, this series enables players to game historically accurate simulations of tactical operations from the Great War. ITT challenges players to move and fight with company-level formations made of separate platoon-sized units during five minute, impulsed-based turns. The historically accurate maps are scaled to 100 yards per hex. This approach recreates WWI command and control problems and inspire historically accurate play without forcing decisions. This set includes all the counters you’ll need to play these scenarios, PLUS all the status markers and administrative counters you’ll need to play any expansion. Includes: 176 counters to manouevre Three 8.5x11-inch maps 1 rulebook to rifle through 1 Player Aid Card and Scenario Card 1 Game Turn Track

This is a great simulation of this battle. The tactical play really has a real like feel. The US Marines deservedly were the "Devil Dogs" and the absolute best at this time and to helped save the allies during this War. I highly recommend this game. I also have Coup de Grace 1916 (Verdun) and Devil Dogs 2 Faith and Sacrifice. Semper Fi!

A good teaser of a game, that promises a great experience when combined with another battle pack. (There are 4 others at this writing) By itself, the scenarios are limited as is the force mix you get. A little more chrome or an extra scenario or two that wasn't about berserko marines attacking 1/3 as many German troops, might have been nice.

Good small-scale tactical game. The add-ons bring a lot more as this one is fairly basic with three scenarios (or operations as the game calls 'em). Still really good for a low-cost game.

This is such a great system. I love the formations, activations, and reaction fire. the scenarios mostly have one side mobile and the other static, which makes them good for solo, but not great for two players. If the scenarios were better, I'd rate it higher. Really captures the feel of WWI, and teaches a good deal about period battle. Thinking of homebrewing some point-based army building rules.
