Description Description
Emperor Trajan plans to have a monument built for eternity: the Forum Trajanum. It is supposed to become the biggest and most glorious Emperor's forum that the Roman world has ever seen — not only in order to demonstrate his success as Princeps Optimus in an imposing manner, but also to foster the well-being and the fame of the honorable citizens of Rome.

In Forum Trajanum, each player governs a Colonia, founded by Trajan himself, and thus is the head of one of the highest-ranking cities in the entire Roman Empire. While the players try to optimally develop their own Colonia, they should not fail in supporting the Emperor's building project to the best of their abilities at the same time. The player who is most successful in doing so will — after expiry of their term of office — be admitted to the small circle of illustrious and mighty personalities surrounding the Emperor.

We are feld fans, so we are clearly biased. However, we enjoyed the different mechanisms and strategies for different paths to victories. A lot of mathyness in a good way to determine the best route. Some player interaction with passing one of your tiles and choosing between the two. Player powers that you have to pay for, points you have to pay for, everything just melds really well. We did struggle a bit with whether or not the construction sites count as colored sites for the building based trajan cards. Still not sure the answer but we didn't have any problems learning although we are familiar with Felds other works. Another great one to play when your looking for a puzzle.

Brilliant! Hard choices, fascinating spatial considerations, gorgeous production -- a pleasure to play. Lots to wrap your head around at the first go, but it all comes together to make a remarkably streamlined semi-heavy package. Shout out to Paul Incao for his work as Development Consultant on the the game!

Not as complex as Bonfire or Bora Bora, which for me is a good thing. All mechanisms work flawlessly. (Feld's attention to detail). One of the top 3 games of 2018! Of course, Stefan Feld is held to a higher standard than all other designers. Far better game than the ratings. Some people will give it a poor score , because they can’t figure it out. Shame.

Really enjoyed this one.. simple clean action that stay smooth throughout the game, choose 1 time and then build once (game does not build into massive turns), with lots of interesting/tough decisions to make each turn.. the puzzle os to optimize your scoring with trying to achieve multiple scoring opportunities with clever placement..

Bargain from The Works. Another Feld points salad but that's not an insult. Fair bit of setup variability, so different strategies will come into play. A lot of fun and deceptively quick. Straightforward scaling for 2p.
