The seals have been broken, and it is up to you and up to three friends to fight your way through the post-apocalyptic wasteland! Darksiders is a 1-4 player coop dungeon crawl, in which you take on the apocalypse as the Four Horsemen of the apocalypse. Play as War, Death, Fury or Strife and battle against the legions of Heaven, Hell, and all monstrosities in between. Manage your cards well, as you will be using them to move, attack enemies and upgrade your rider. Don't blow through them too quickly though, because once your deck runs out you've lost the battle! Fight your way through to the hordes of monsters to defeat the end boss and win the apocalypse! Cards in Darksiders can function in three different ways: - You may discard a card to make an attack with your melee weapon (or a ranged weapon if you have purchased one for your rider) - You may discard a card to move your rider up to 3 hexes (different cards have different possible movement values listed on them) - You can spend the soul cost listed on certain cards to use their special abilities. Character upgrade cards cost blue souls and give you additional equipment such as armor or weapons Special abilities cost yellow Wrath souls and let you use ferocious special abilities to attack or defend your rider. Each rider also has their own special ability, which can be used each turn that the Fate die shines on the rider. They each also have multiple different ways to play available to them, with two example deck compositions provided in the rulebook for those who wish to play either more aggressively or more defensively, or you can customise your rider's deck to suit your own personal play style! A standard game is broken into three levels, with the third being the boss fight. The rulebook contains information on various different levels you can play through. Level objectives range from defeating a certain number of a specific enemy type, to collecting a minimum number of energy souls, to just making it to the end portal alive! Levels also include recommended setup for the modular boards, as well as grave and portal spawn point placements. Players are free to mix and match levels as they please, follow recommended progressions, adjust written levels to their preferences, or even create their own levels and objectives! Once you have plowed through droves of enemies it is time for the End Boss fight in the final level! Battle against the Jailer to win the game, but don't expect it to be easy!
