Fast, fun, flexible gaming

"Too long, didn't..."

We all love our big games with lots of "crunch" but sometimes its nice to have something quick and easy on game night. Well, grab your dice and your friends, this is the game for people who want fast, brutal, flexible gaming. With a nod to both OSR style play and a respect for Old School gaming, TLD RPG is designed to to get to the action quickly by eliminating the fluff that is crammed into many games.

TLD RPG uses a straightforward system that is customizable and easy to pick up quickly. Character creation is quick thanks to the lean rules and included character sheet. The rules are straight to the point and the action starts quickly. All that is needed is a few friends, a few D6, and a GM.

You don't have time to waste on game night and TLD knows it.

Welcome to TLD RPG.

TLD RPG by Wobblies & Wizards (anchor.fm)

Players first

TLD believes the focus should be on the players more than the characters. While the GM is the final arbiter of the game, the rules and mechanics are just guidelines and you shouldn't feel “boxed in” by the way the game structures the characters or the rules. The game encourages roleplay, creativity, and a collaborative dialogue between the whole table. Feel free to use only what works for your table. If everyone is having a good time, you're playing the game correctly.

Quick, accessible gaming

TLD aims to be an approachable, easy to learn game. As such it uses a D6 dice pool system. When you want to do something risky, you roll a number of dice equal to your most relevant attribute. Rolls can be influenced in several ways (GM discretion, disadvantage, skills, etc). If you get a “6” you succeed! Simple as that. This leads to fast and flexible gaming instead of constantly flipping through pages looking for a certain rule.

In addition, there are original creatures to fight, rules dealing with armor and shields, encumbrance, leveling up your character, and more.

Play your way

Character creation is fast and flexible with lots of flavor. No pre-defined bonuses or classes; characters are built around the attributes and abilities you choose so that you can play the character your way. Also, the system is designed in a way so that creating low level and high level characters is equally easy.

  • Decide how many points your character will start with (beginning characters have 4)
  • Assign those points how you like between your character’s three attributes
  • Assign one ability for each attribute point you assigned.
  • Pick starting gear, skill, other details, etc.
  • Done!
