In time track games every action costs minutes, days or months, and whoever sits furthest back on the track goes next: no fixed turns, but a race in which a long action lets the others leapfrog you. The mechanism rewards efficient sequencing and gives a rhythm quite unlike the usual round-the-table order. It suits people who like management games with interlocking decisions and anyone after tense two-player titles.

Patchwork (Edizione Francese) is the textbook case: two players, half an hour, from age 8; Glen More II: Chronicles takes the idea into a two-hour management game for 2-4; Bloodborne: The Board Game uses it inside a 75-minute adventure for 1-4; Zero Leader is built for a single player; Croix de Guerre: 2nd edition applies it to a two-player wargame. On average these games seat 2-4, run around ninety minutes and suit ages 12 and up.
