Card drafting is the mechanism where you pick one card from a set and pass the rest, or take from a shared row knowing everyone will see what you leave behind. Every pick is a double decision: what do I need, what do I not want to hand over. It is one of the most widespread mechanisms in the hobby and suits players who like quick decisions and combinations that grow card after card.
The average is 2 to 5 players and an hour, from age 11. Sushi Go! is the simplest example, 15 minutes from age 8 passing hands around the circle; Inis uses drafting to hand out actions in a 90-minute Celtic area control game; Clank! Legacy: Acquisitions Incorporated and Il Trono di Spade LCG: Fratellanza Dimenticata use it to build decks across campaigns and expansion cycles.
