In action drafting the available actions are a scarce resource: every turn you pick from a shared pool, and what you take is gone for everyone else. It is the engine behind many euros, from worker placement to role selection, and it appeals to players who want to feel their opponents' pressure without direct conflict.
Games with this mechanic tend to be mid-to-heavy: around an hour and three quarters, tables of 2 to 4, recommended age 12 and up. Puerto Rico 1897: Special Edition (EDIZIONE ITALIANA) is the classic of role selection, for 1 to 5 players in two hours; Theocratia (EDIZIONE ITALIANA) and Navoria (EDIZIONE ITALIANA) run about 80 minutes; Elements Of The Gods also plays solo. For a crowded table there is Porca Vacca!, up to 8 players in 45 minutes.
