In these games the map is not laid out at the start: it grows as you play, tile by tile, and nobody knows exactly what lies around the corner. It is the mechanism behind dungeon crawlers, exploration games and some railway titles, and it suits players who want every session to feel different with a touch of surprise each turn. The average is 1 to 5 players and about seventy-five minutes.
Tiny Epic Dungeons 2nd Edition - board game builds its dungeon room by room for 1 to 4 in an hour; Clank! - Catacombs (EDIZIONE ITALIANA) does the same with deck building, 90 minutes from age 13; Deep Rock Galactic: The Board Game digs a cooperative mine over two and a half hours; Railroad Tiles adds tracks in half an hour, one player included. Almost the whole group has a solid solitaire mode, which explains the low average player count.
