In grid movement games the map is divided into squares or hexes and every piece moves a set number of steps: position, line of sight and an exposed flank all matter. It is the mechanic of chess and of dungeon crawlers, of tactical squad games and light wargames. It suits players who think about position and want every move to be a decision.
The average count is 2 to 4 players, sessions run about 100 minutes and the suggested age is 11, but there are solo titles and 20-minute games too.
