Description Description
This Sid Sackson classic has taken many different forms over the years depending on the publisher. Each player strategically invests in businesses, trying to retain a majority of stock. As the businesses grow with tile placements, they also start merging, giving the majority stockholders of the acquired business sizable bonuses, which can then be used to reinvest into other chains. All of the investors in the acquired company can then cash in their stocks for current value or trade them 2-for-1 for shares of the newer, larger business. The game is a race to acquire the greatest wealth.

Some versions of the 3M bookshelf edition included rules for a 2-player variant.

The original version is part of the 3M Bookshelf Series.

One of the best games I have ever played and I have probably played about 100 board games (not an exaggeration), rules are quite simple for a 90 min game but there is so much depth and so much to explore. However some editions have reward for 3rd owner which makes the game considerably worse.

This is light on rules, medium on strategy, and high on fun. I play this with poker chips (open money) and hidden shares, it works very well. The chips feel great in hand, and I find that the information of whether or not a player still has any money is not very relevant.

This stock buying game is definitely better than it looks; the hotels you are trying to merge together to get big profits are fun colorful hotels that have beautiful names

Wow. Played this one for the first time recently. What a masterpiece! Acquire was ahead of its time. The DNA for so many other games shines through in this one.

Awesome game! lived up to its legend. This is brisk and thinky, and all about jockeying for shares. Getting acquired to generate cash is a feel good mechanism way ahead of its time. Youre either getting points or cash for ownership, and being able to jump into the transactions on either side is great. Love it!
