Across the Pacific portrays the entire Pacific War in five-month turns with units that range from armies to regiments, air fleets to destroyer flotillas. The game system is interactive so that each player is involved at every moment of play. The heart of the game's mechanics is a series of strategic and tactical phases — 5 per player per turn — that are sequenced by a chit draw so that each player will know his and his opponents possible actions, but not the order in which they will be undertaken. This brings about continual strategic and operational opportunity as players plan their actions in response to the lifting for of war. Across the Pacific provides a manageable and fast-paced wargame that has a high level of detail and operational flavor while retaining the strategic scope of the ebb and flow of the Pacific War. This is an almost perfect game. The reason why it is not is that the historical 1941 start lends itself to possibly ahistorical situations. If you are looking for greater freedom in your strategy, then this is the game for you. It really needs a 1943 and 1944 historical scenarios. It would be great to play this out in a more historical framework.

B-day gift from wife 11/2015. Finally got this one to the table (February 2017) and so glad I did! This has become my GTG on the Pacific Theater. More details to follow in my review that I will post soon.

I'm really liking this game so far, I already prefer it to USN, Pacific War, and Pacific Fleet. This is a provisional rating, I'll update it once I gain more experience. (Even though I normally don't care for chit-pull mechanics in wargames, I find they work to great effect in this game). keeper

Across The Pacific is simply a great game of the Asia/Pacific War. It has enough complexity without being over the top with rules but with enough realism and historical feel at what I believe is the right scale. Very good game components, with one map. The fact it covers Asia and India as well as the Pacific is a plus. Great feedback from the designer Mike Myers.

Played this a few times both solo and ftf. It captures the feel of the campaign in my eyes without taking too long. The designer still supports the game after 8 years which is a definite plus. Not much else out there that does what this does. Nice game.
