It's a great promo. My biggest issue with promos is usually that they don't fit the original game, that they stick out and are either over- or underpowered. This feels like it should have been in the original game. Alchemists without the expansion has a bit too few artefacts, this somewhat alleviates that problem. The effect is also a lot of fun, without feeling broken. It does incentivize you to go later in the turn, since otherwise it's hard to get favors, which is interesting but usually not worth it. The expansion module with different tracks really helps this.
