Best narrative game I've ever play! It's not, as in other narrative games, a puzzle. Here, every choice counts. It's your decisions that move the story forward, and the game responds to your ideas and decisions. It's very, very satisfying. It's like a role-playing game but without a GM. It's amazing!

Discover the first adventure in the BACKSTORIES Saga: Alone under the Ice!
How to Play ?
Backstories is a game with mechanisms as simple as they are revolutionary: a bit like you would do in a Point & Click video games, interact with your environment as you progress through your thrilling adventures. Some cards (Panorama) represent the environment in which you’re evolving. Other cards (Actions) are perforated, and represent the actions you can perform (Talk, Search, Objects in your possession, etc.). To interact, all you have to do is place a perforated card on the back of the Panorama card you’re interested in, then turn the card over and read the result of your choice. Be careful, though: in every scenario you play through, each of your choices will have real consequences… Be ready to face them!
In Alone under the Ice, you play the role of Sophie. Set out to find your brother Jean, who has disappeared under mysterious circumstances. The latest news you’ve received comes from a refuge on the summit of Mont-Blanc, via a letter Jean sent you. It seems he was looking for a treasure lost since the 1940s: The amber Chamber!
Now it’s up to you!
And remember: Your choices, Your Adventure!

I don't give it a 10 lightly. It truly had me sucked in after 10 minutes. The game has multiple story paths with multiple endings. Unlike other games in this genre, you will want to play this multiple times. I didn't even see 40-50% of the cards after my first play-through. The stakes are so high almost from the very beginning. And the game is constantly increasing the pressure and excitement. I loved every second and I can't wait to play it a few more times through. I wish they had 10 of these for me to play all weekend long.
BACKSTORIES est une force tranquille. Voilà un titre qui ne devrait pas passer à côté de certains prix ludiques tant le boulot de concepteurs et d’auteurs est précis et colossal et tant l’expérience est délicieuse. Similar to the Adventure Games series with some new and fascinating mechanics. Fast played, fun game!
Entertaining and very well done game. The story might be intuitive, but the implementation was flawless. I enjoyed the continuos action sequence and the tension created by the character status cards. Even the real time ending was an unexpected touch, although my less favorite part. Looking forward for other stories in the serie.
