Description
The Russian cavalry force was the largest in Europe, totaling over sixty regiments organized into twenty cavalry divisions. The light cavalry consisted of hussars and lancers or uhlans. Just like the infantry, cavalry training consisted of wheels and maneuvers designed for the parade ground with little tactical application. Russian dragoons remained very close to the original role of mounted infantry, often dismounting to fight in line where many dragoons of other nations were purely cavalry. This is reflected in their uniform, which was practically identical to the infantry set of long coat and helmet.
