I had the pleasure to test play this game at Essen Spiel 2024 and it caught me completely. The material is very nice and of high-value, the thematic has been brought to board in a fantastic way and the worker placement / set collection mechanism is a great thing. I cannot wait to hold my copy in hands and bring it on the table.

Description
We are in the last half of the 1800s, during the so-called Bone War. During this time a great rivalry arose between Othniel Marsh and Edward Cope, two world-famous palaeontologists. Both sought to outclass the other in the discovery of new dinosaur species, going so far as to bribe their rival's workers, steal or even destroy each other's bones.
Players will play the role of palaeontologists working for one of these legendary figures (or perhaps secretly for their own benefit!) trying to outwit the competition. During the game, players must make clever use of their action cards by playing them in the spaces below the player board. These action cards can either activate their team, in order to unearth fossils and discover new species in the field, or their palaeontologist, in order to publish articles, refute opposing theories and obtain the coveted awards.

Interesting "Euro" design with some take that in form of "debunking" or flipping scoring tokens from one loyalty track to another. 4 rounds with a few turns per round so doesn't overstay. Highly recommend interesting themed game
Played this at Philli Pax and love it. Was finally able to buy a copy and I bought the deluxe version. The deluxe version is one of the finest crafted and well thought out games in my large collection. Stunning quality. The storage setup is perfect. Eagle Gryphon, MindClash, etc., they build fantastic games. I think that this tops them all.

Thematically close, but not super immersive... clever twists on old mechanisms, like it after the first game. Second game even better, the thematic ties become more and more obvious, the intertwined mechanisms work more efficiently, 10 points more in the very slim final scoring, now up to 35. :-)
