Description
A midnight bell rings through the streets of Wildegrens as villagers close their windows against the darkness. Something moves in the night, in the forest, in the fields, on the old battlefield. The isolated village is in danger. Crops are failing, animals are dying, and villagers are disappearing. The inhabitants are afraid. Some women are reacting, but the villagers suspect these women may have dealings with the devil himself. Behind the old school, a shadow crosses the town well. A faint light reveals two witches signaling each other, closing their lantern and heading into the dark woods.
Witchcraft! is a fast solo card-driven game where you lead a coven of witches in a fantasy world where magic is real and so are monsters. Based on the hidden/revealed mechanism of Resist!, you will decide when to use magic to defeat the challenges you face: reveal yourselves to the other villagers or be imprisoned for witchcraft. By completing missions and defeating enemies, you will seek to prove to the villagers that magic is not evil and convince a jury that you are protecting the village. Three jurors will decide your fate and their conviction is strong. Will you manage to convince them?
At the start of the game, a coven of witches is assembled from families of women represented by a deck of cards. By selecting more witches from a family, that family becomes more powerful. Each family focuses on different tasks in the game: revealing challenges, increasing attack power, discovering juror convictions, or capturing familiars to aid in your struggle.
The struggle is real and each of the eight jurors must face a different villain. Is it the Headless Knight, Baba Yaga, the Scarecrow or some other demon? At setup, you choose three jurors, their missions and their unique challenges: 56 possible combinations with great variety of challenges and monsters to face. If you fail two missions or lose five villagers, you lose the game. Even if you defeat the missions, you must face trial and you will only be sure of your fate when you reveal the jurors' convictions and see if you have done enough to convince them.

Such a fun, challenging, thematic solo game! And it looks great on the table too. The women in this game are fierce. It is fairly easy to learn the game, the game mechanics make a lot of sense, because of the story. The replayability is huge. I can’t think of a single negative! Such a great game!
Simply an awesome puzzle dripping with theme and fun mechanics. Love the base game but I’m especially loving the tales scenarios. Can’t recommend high enough for solo or partner coop play. (‘black cat not needed but also highly recommended)
Amazing theme and gameplay (even if I am still bad at it!). What ended up making this a "buy" for me as a baby board gamer was the positioning of the witches as forces of good trying to protect their town. Also now has a digital version (mobile phone only) so I can play on my commute home in the evenings!
Хорошая соло игра, приятный пасьянс на вечер. отличные атмосферные изображения на картах, интересная механика самой игры, крайне понятные правила и хороший вариант игры по сценариям. Для коллекции мастхэв.
Fantastic solo game pitting the player against a jury that decides their fate as a witch. This games builds on the simple card playing fun of Resist! by adding the additional layer of the jury.
