Description Description
You are an averagely successful gangster in a small township. You are tired of doing small jobs that only earn stress and scars with no hope for a better future. After hearing about the success stories from gangsters in big cities, you decide to become the most prestigious gangster of all times, so you move to Crimopolis, squat an empty building and declare it to be your headquarters. Crimopolis is a dice-free tile-placement strategy game in which players explore a city area by moving gangsters further and further away from their headquarters. Tiles feature streets and city blocks with parks, banks, graveyards, churches, lakes etc. Players assemble gangsters and execute jobs. The trickier the job the more prestige they earn. Taking over other players' assets also gains prestige as well as end game contributions such as villainy and hidden abilities. The player with the highest prestige wins the game. Each player controls a variously sized gang of up to 7 gangsters. The game is played in turns during which a player can spend game hours at will. They can be used to recruit and move gangsters, explore the city, execute jobs, ambush others and/or take over their assets and invest into fortunes. Players are involved outside their turns, fulfill a time keeper role and counteract on the active player's turn.

I played Crimopolis for the first (and only time) at Sven’s house with him and Natalia. A great and fun way to catch up with good friends ? miss you both!

This is a game that has gotten under my skin and I just want to keep coming back to it again and again. Very enjoyable, especially with a count of five players. It has a fair amount of "take that" in the game, but you can also try to win by avoiding the "take that" mechanic. The game is beautifully produced and everything is laid out perfectly in the instruction manual--including how to put the miniature church together. (And if you don't want to read the manual, there are numerous videos explaining the rules and how to construct the miniature church.) There are several expansions planned for the game and I will gladly buy them.

A great game in all aspects! Already unboxing it and constructing the church was fun. The material is top and very thematic, as the actions in the game are. The only reason for me personally to give 9 instead of 10 stars is, that drawing the cards and locations are a bit too luck-dependent. But with good choices you can steer it in the direction you need. It deserves a lot more attention in the board game community than it currently has. PS: The short text on the cards can be understood by (German) people who speak only a little English. ; )
