Description
Japan, 1970s. A copy of Dante's Divine Comedy illustrated by Doré reaches the hands of Gō Nagai, a promising manga artist. Nagai starts working on his own, creating works that will radically change the concept of 'manga' through the legitimization of eroticism, thus originating a nouvelle vague. Our author creates works like Mao Dante and Devilman, where he initiates a complex and original discourse on religions and the ambiguity of good and evil. We proudly announce to Italian readers the publication of the major works of master Gō Nagai in the most recent and definitive reprint. A luxury edition that will not disappoint readers who have already had the chance to read these stories and will captivate those who have yet to appreciate them: strengths of our edition will include a new translation faithful to the original, collectible variant covers, a chronological and philologically correct reissue of the stories, and much unpublished material. We start with Devilman, a work heavily influenced by the illustrated Comedy by Doré, which we will present in the original format of five tankōbon.
