Description
In The Guild of Merchant Explorers, each player starts with one city on their personal map board. Shuffle the deck of terrain cards, then reveal most of these cards one by one. Based on the terrain revealed, each player places on their board cubes that are connected to their starting city or other cubes. You want to complete areas on your board, cross the seas to new land, and establish new cities on the board. You can explore capsized ships for treasure — which gives you special placement capabilities — and create linked connections between locations to score bonus points. Common objectives can be completed by all players, with those who complete it first scoring more points. At the end of a round, all cubes are removed from each board, leaving only the cities behind, so if you don't establish new cities, you'll be stuck in the same places. The Guild of Merchant Explorers contains multiple copies of four different maps, and the game is designed so that you can play remotely with one or more copies.

This rating could go up or down, but I seem to enjoy the game more every time I play it. I think the rating is only going up. The only reason this is not a 10 is because my eyes strain at the smallness and beige-ness of the game components in the third and fourth rounds. I do enjoy the art and aesthetic though. I just wish everything was a little bigger. Enlarging everything might alleviate the eye strain from the lower contrast art.
Great game, really enjoy it. Fantastic variation of Kingdom Builder! Have added the 'Colour Blind Friendly' maps (available as PDF) to expand player count, using some proxied extra player pieces. Works well at 6 player, while 7/8 player starts to run out of cards and coins
Really fun game that’s easy to grasp and fairly quick to play. Quick rounds that reset the exploration, and good gameplay that is quick to teach and anyone can learn.
Imported PokoGames. ♥♥♥♥♥ This one has become one of my ♥ games. I just, never get tired of it. Wonderful gameplay, not complicated at all, and you get the feeling of a great voyage after those four rounds, which don't really take that long. It's amazing. Love it.
CAUTION! Not suitable for children under 3 years of age. It contains small parts which could be swallowed or inhaled.
